Boston Tummy Tuck

Who?
Most tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, patients are looking to flatten and tighten a protruding abdomen. Many have this problem area even through exercise and diet programs, while others see it form after pregnancy or with age.

What?
The procedure can take about 2-5 hours and may be performed on either an in or outpatient basis, depending on the extent of work being done. Usually general anesthesia is used, sometimes local sedation. Excess fat and skin is surgically removed, the muscles of the abdomen wall tightened to give the abdomen a more sculpted look.

Most patients are back to work within 2 weeks to a month of having the surgery. 1-1.5 months should be allowed post surgery before attempting anything terribly active. It can take several months for scars to fade and level out, or even up to 2 years..
